If you have encountered a problem on Monarch Plugin where in Facebook Share Counter doesn't get updated. This is because Facebook requires manual reauthorization every 60 days. All you have to do is create a new token for Facebook app and reauthorize Facebook again in Monarch. Here's how:
- Login to your Facebook account and then access the Facebook Developers Page
- Hover over "My Apps" and select the app you created for Monarch
- From the Main Menu, got to Settings > Basic
- Click on the "Show" Button under App Secret, then Click on "Reset"
- Make sure the "Frequency of count updates" is set to 0
- Copy the new App Secret and hit Save Changes at the bottom
- From the Wordpress Dashboard, navigate to Tools > Monarch Settings > General Settings
- Paste the new App Secret under API Settings Facebook
- Click Re-authorize and then Save Changes
- Finally, Double check the Social Share Counter in the Front end
Monarch now displays a reminder to the user when the token is near expiration like on the screenshot below:
